5 Tips To Eating Smart Even When You’re Constantly On The Go

The most common excuse I hear for not eating healthy or exercising is, “I don’t have time.” I get it, you’re busy, but guess what? So are your fit and healthy co-workers, neighbors, relatives and friends.

And by the way, there’s nothing “more special” or “unique” about them that magically grants them time to exercise and cook a healthy dinner. They make it a priority because they know how awesome life is when you feel amazing.

While lack of time is a convenient (and common) excuse for living an unhealthy lifestyle, you must know in your heart of hearts that you deserve better. Right? I thought so!

Oh, and by the way? You can totally eat healthy even when you don’t have much time.

Here are 5 tips to eating smart even when you’re constantly on the go.

Tip #1: Be Prepared

3 Ways to Make Healthy Eating Simple

How do you get motivated to cook when take-out is calling your name? It's hard but I'll tell you how we stopped dialing for pizza and started eating healthier without missing a step.

How many of us have a list of take-out restaurants at our fingertips at home and at the office? It often feels so much easier to reach for the phone or hit the drive up after work and order pizza, Chinese, subs… whatever. So how can you get motivated to cook when all you want to do is dial out for dinner?

First, you have to make it easy to make a healthy choice, and second, you have to make it fun.

There are three basic ways I make cooking at home more appealing than ordering out.

First, plan ahead.

I know, I know! It sounds awful and demanding and “how can you possibly plan a full week of dinners!” but let me tell you, meal planning is your friend! From your waistline to your pocketbook, your whole life is going to thank you for this small act of organization. And it can be really...

Secrets of Meal Planning

Meal planning makes a big difference in the quality and freshness of your diet and can be a big factor in finding healthy choices at mealtime. When creating the plan, the whole household can get involved, which is great for kids too. If you want to save time and money, eat nutritious food and cut down on the amount of waste going to the landfill, then meal planning is the key.

Save Time

Meal planning is a great way to save time, as you’ll only be running off to the grocery store once or twice a week, instead of having to go regularly after work in a panic. Sitting down to do the planning will only take about a half-hour, but you will make up that time by not frantically searching the fridge and cupboards trying to find something to eat. You are also saving time by not having to wait in line at the drive-thru.

You had the best intentions of using up those leftovers from the weekend.  At first, your Meal Prep Sunday seemed like a dream idea.  You'd prep food for the week, have it all stored and ready, and you'd have a home cooked meal every day without much effort.  But by day #3 of it, your family is giving you the side-eye, and you can no longer bear to eat the same dish again.

I feel you. It happens to us all. We all want to make use of our leftovers, but we get bored, and food goes to waste instead. Instead of forcing yourself and your family to eat the same things day in and day out, try these leftover tips that will help you liven things up and reignite the spark that makes you excited to dig in.

  1. Add avocado

Leftover brown rice and sautéed veggies? Eh. Leftover brown rice and sautéed veggies with fresh avocado? Now you’re talking! Drizzle on some sriracha too for a spicy hit and facelift on your leftovers.

  1. Add some crunch
